A two-day international conference styled ‘Microbes for Benefit of the Society’ began tomorrow at Dhaka University (DU) Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban.
DU Pro-Vice Chancellor (administration) Professor Shahid Akhtar Hossain inaugurated the conference organized by DU Microbiology Department and Bangladesh Society of Microbiologist (BSM).
Eminent Indian scientist Professor Nirmal Kumar Ganguly presented the keynote paper in the inaugural session while noted microbiologist Professor Dr K M Sultanul Aziz joined it as special guest.
A total of 300 scientists from home and abroad are taking part in the conference. Most of the foreign guest scientists come from India and some of them come from Pakistan, Nepal, Myanmar and Bhutan.
The conference will be finished on Monday. This time the specialist discuss how we can use microbes and get benefit. In medicine department the microbes has a lot of uses and Bangladesh is a rising medicine exporting country.
If Bangladeshi authority want, we can get a vast number of interest from here. So this productive sector microbes can be a blessing for our medicine sector.
