The National Board of Revenue (NBR) continues to provide services to the doorsteps of the people. Mass people are now very aware of tax. The NBR has already started ‘halkhata’ celebration on Boishakh 1. The people have spontaneously welcomed this initiative.

Once upon a time, people were always anxious about paying tax. Now they realise that in order to participate in the service of the country, every person who owes tax will have to pay taxes.

Today, we have made a breakthrough in tax evasion due to the vision and coordination of the Chairman of the NBR. The NBR has organised a national tax fair in the upazila level.

In the phases, the board has a plan to serve the people in union level and provide services to them.

NBR Commissioner (Taxes Zone- 7) AJM Ziaul Haque has recently said this in an interview with The Finance Today.

He said, “We want to work as a public servant. The National Board of Revenue has provided training to each of our officers and employees who work with the attitude of service.”

According to Commissioner Ziaul Haque, the coordination between VAT and Income Tax Department is very necessary. “We are trying to reach the people’s doorstep with limited manpower,” he told The Finance Today.

“Right now the National Board of Revenue is required to increase the scope of manpower. In the meantime, the National Board of Revenue has decided to recruit some candidates from them who passed in the BCS but did not get the job. NBR wants to create some employment opportunities by training them. As a result of this, our revenue collection will increase,” he added.

AJM Ziaul Haque said “as day by day trade volume is increasing across the country; we will have to continue to meet our goals. For this, skilled manpower and own office are very important.”

“You will notice that most of our offices are propelling their functions in a rented house across the country. We badly need our own buildings like other administrative divisions across the country, to provide services to the people. This will also increase the confidence of the people and the service will also increase” he told The Finance Today.

“If people face any problem in tax administration; then they may directly consult with divisional Joint Commissioner or the Commissioner. We are ready to solve the problem by mutual discussions” he added.

Finally, he urged all to be more sincere for providing service to people and at the same time people need to be more aware about taking the service from NBR.
