The Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda said on Tuesday that the Army will be deployed in the next national election if the Election Commission (EC) feels they are needed.
“Despite all political parties having their observations, Army will be deployed in the next national polls only if the Election Commission feels it necessary,” he told reporters after a discussion program at Kapasia in Gazipur.
A tree was planted and a voter list update center in front of the upazila EC office was visited by him.
“We hope all the political parties will participate in the general election and we will ensure free and fair polls if every party takes part in it,” he added.
Deputy Commissioner D. Dewan Muhammad Humahun Kabir presided over the discussion program. Superintendent of police Md Harun Ur Rashid, local EC officer Rakib Uddin Mand attended among others.
