15th Int’l tourism fair begins in Dhaka today

The 15th editon of international travel and tourism fair titled ‘Dhaka Travel Mart-2018’ begins at the Ball Room of Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel today. A.K.M. Shajahan Kamal, Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism will formally inaugurate the fair at 11am.

The Bangladesh Monitor, premier travel and tourism publication of the country is organising the 3-day long fair. US- Bangla Airlines, a leading private sector airline of the country is the title sponsor while Bangladesh Tourism Board and national carrier Biman Bangladesh Airlines are the partners of the event.

A minute of silence was observed at the beginning of the conference in hounour of the victims of tragic plane accident at Kathmandu. Doa was also offered seeking salvation of the departed souls and early recovery of the injured passengers.

Kazi Wahidul Alam, Editor, The Bangladesh Monitor announced this at a press conference at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel recently.

With a view to unlock country’s tourism potential, we have launched this event, fifteen years back and since then we are holding this fair as our regular annual event. We believe that Travel Mart has been playing a very supportive role in the development of country’s tourism sector.”, said Kazi Wahidul Alam.

Dr. Md. Nasir Uddin, CEO of Bangladesh Tourism Board; Atique Rahman Chisty, General Manager Marketing and Sales, Biman Bangladesh Airlines also spoke on the occasion among others.

Forty eight organisations from different six countries and host Bangladesh will showcase their products and services in 5 pavilions and 60 booths at US- Bangla Airlines Travel Mart 2018. National Tourism Organisations, Airlines, Tour Operators, Hotels, Resorts, Online Booking Portals, Healthcare Service Providers are participating in the fair among others.

Significant feature of the present edition of the fair is the participation of five national tourism organisations – Bangladesh Tourism Board, Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation, Nepal Tourism Board, Tourism Authority of Thailand, Srilanka Tourism Promotion Bureau.

All Bangladeshi airlines – Biman Bangladesh Airlines, NovoAir, Regent Airways and US-Bangla Airlines are taking part in the event.

On sideline of the fair a seminar on ‘Prospects of riverine tourism in Bangladesh’ will be held on Saturday, March 24 at 10.30 am at Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel.

Visitors will be able to go around the fair from 10 am to 8.00 pm everyday till Saturday paying an entry fee of Tk. 30. Raffle draw on the entry coupons will be held on the concluding day, March 24 at 7.30 pm at the fair venue in front of visitors.

Prizes include airline tickets to various destinations at home and abroad, exciting tour packages, star hotel accommodation, lunch/dinner coupons among others.
