FT ONLINE

Bus operators will begin selling advance tickets for Eid-ul-Fitr trips on May 30.

Tickets for various routes in the northern and southern regions of Bangladesh will be available from the early hours of Wednesday, Sohel Talukdar, chairman of Bangladesh Bus Truck Owners Association said.

“Tickets will be available from various bus counters and will be sold as long as seats are available.”

Advance tickets for Chattogram route will be available from that day, he said.

“Tickets for north Bengal and Sylhet will also be available on May 30,” Md Abdul Malek, general secretary of Mohakhali Inter-district Bus Terminal said.

There are no advance tickets for passengers travelling to Mymensingh and other nearby districts, he said, but they will be provided after the start of Eid holidays.

“We received a letter from the ministry instructing advance ticket sales from May 30. But short-distance tickets are not sold in advance here.”

Eid-ul-Fitr is expected to fall on June 16, but the date is subject to the sighting of the moon.

The sale of advance train tickets will begin Jun 1.
