The Bangladesh Jewellers’ Association (BAJUS) has decided to reduce gold prices in the domestic market for the second time since Eid. This time, the price of 22-carat gold has been cut by Tk5,482 per bhori, bringing the new rate to Tk229,373.
In a statement issued on Saturday morning, BAJUS said the price of pure gold had declined in the local market. Considering the overall market situation, the association revised gold prices accordingly. The new rates came into effect from 10:00am on Saturday.
Under the revised rates, one bhori (11.664 grammes) of 22-carat gold will now cost Tk229,373 in the local market.
In addition, the price of 21-carat gold has been fixed at Tk218,933 per bhori, while 18-carat gold will cost Tk187,674 per bhori. Gold produced under the traditional method has been priced at Tk152,857 per bhori.
Earlier, on 2 June, BAJUS had adjusted gold prices for the first time after Eid. At that time, the price of 22-carat gold was reduced by Tk3,266 per bhori to Tk234,855.
The prices of 21-carat and 18-carat gold were then set at Tk224,182 and Tk192,164 per bhori respectively, while traditional gold was priced at Tk156,473 per bhori.
