Dhaka dwellers use 22.5kg plastic per capita: WB

Dhaka dwellers used 22.5kg plastic per capita in 2020 while other urban areas in Bangladesh consumed 9kg, which is three times higher than 2005 when it was only 3kg, said a World Bank report.

"A huge amount of plastic waste is dumped in water bodies and rivers," WB Bangladesh acting country director Dandan Chen said during the launching ceremony of the study report at a hotel in Dhaka on Monday.

The WB in cooperation with the Department of Environment and other stakeholders has prepared an action plan for sustainable plastic management in Bangladesh.
