Around 3,000 Rohingyas are likely to be relocated to the island of Bhasan Char by end of January, taking a total of nearly 6,442.

Sources hinted that relocation is going to take place on January 29 and 30.

Nearly 1,642 Rohingyas were relocated to Bhasan Char in the first batch on December 4 and 1,800 in the second bath on December 29 last year.

In August 2017, around 7.5 lakh Rohingyas came to Bangladesh leaving their homesteads at Rakhine state of Myanmar following persecution by military of that country.

This number is in addition to 4 lakh Rohingyas coming earlier.

Around 11 lakh Rohingya citizens of Myanmar have been living in 34 camps in Cox’s Bazar and elsewhere in Bangladesh.
