State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid has said the scope of Bapex is being expanded to boost capacity. Efforts are on to turn Bapex as an international company in terms of gas exploration, extraction and production.

The state minister made the remark while commenting on gas supply to the national grid after successful workover of Bapex's Srikail East- 1 Exploration Well and Fenchuganj Well No. 4 on Monday).

He said Bapex undertakes production related activities, excavation and workover activities, rig schedule, exploration (geophysical and geological) activities, modernisation of organisational structure / recruitment of manpower.

In order to increase the capacity of Bapex, the government is working according to plan by specifying the projects to be undertaken by the organisaton (Bapex) for its future plan, Nasrul added.

Starting today from Bapex's Srikail East-1 Exploration Well, more or less 11 million cubic feet gas is being produced on trial basis per day and being sent to the national gridline.
