Aminbazar Baily Bridge in the capital’s Gabtoli area has collapsed, forcing a suspension of vessel movement on the Aminbazar-Ashulia route.

The old iron bridge over the route collapsed on Thursday afternoon.

However, no casualties were reported in the incident.

Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) has suspended all vessel movement over the incident, confirmed its Charmain Commodore Golam Sadeq.

BIWTA also issued a notice saying vessel movement on the route would remain suspended until further notice.

In addition, red flags and red lights were installed at the site for security reasons, the notice said.
