The government has decided to keep CNG filling stations closed across the country from 5 pm to 11 pm everyday in a bid to reduce the pressure on the national grid .

A notification issued by the Deputy Chief Information Officer Mir Mohammad Aslam Uddin of the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources on Monday confirmed the development.

Energy and Mineral Resources Division has sent a letter to Petrobangla chairman to implement the decision, ministry sources said.

Official sources said the decision came against the backdrop of the government’s decision to operate gas-fired power plants to generate electricity.
