The government has issued a gazette notification naming the bridge built on mighty river Padma as Padma Bridge.

Bridges Division of Road Transport and Bridges Ministry issued the gazette on Sundya saying the order will be effective immediately.

According to the notification, the government named the bridge over the Padma River connecting Mawa in Munshiganj district and Jazira in Shariatpur district as ‘Padma Bridge’ under the ‘Padma Multi-Purpose Bridge Construction Project’ being implemented by the Bangladesh Bridge Authority under the Bridges Division.

It also mentioned that this order will be effective immediately in the public interest.

Earlier, Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader announced that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate Padma Bridge on June 25 next.
