The national parliament was approved a Tk 332.53 crore budget to spend on its development and non-development expenditures for the fiscal year 2018-19.

The Parliament Secretariat Commission passed the budget at its 29th meeting, chaired by Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, on Sunday.

Commission Members Prime Minister and Leader of the House Sheikh Hasina, Finance Minister AMA Muhith, Law Minister Anisul Huq and Opposition Leader Raushon Ershad were present at the meeting.

Chief Whip ASM Firoz attended the meeting on special invitation.

Of the total budget, Tk 298.43 crore will be spent on non-development sector while Tk 34.18 crore on development sector.

The approved budget for 2018-19 FY is Tk 17.62 crore higher than the revised budget of the 2017-18 FY.

However, the meeting also approved the projected budget for the 2019-20 and 2020-21 fiscal years. The revised budget of the FY 2017-18 was okayed too.
