Professor ASM Maksud Kamal was appointed as the 29th Vice Chancellor (VC) of Dhaka University (DU).

The Ministry of Education issued a gazette notification to this end as per the directive of the DU Chancellor and President.

Prof Maksud Kamal is serving as the pro-Vice Chancellor (education) of the university. The tenure of the current Vice Chancellor Prof Akhtaruzzaman will end next month. Then Professor ASM Maksud Kamal will take the new responsibility of the DU.

Prof Maksud Kamal joined the Department of Geology of Dhaka University as a lecturer in March 2000.

Later, he was promoted to professor in the same department in 2010. Prior to joining the DU, he worked as a scientific officer at Bangladesh Space Research and Remote Sensing Organisation (SPARRSO) for about six years.
