Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin has said that his goal is not personal gain, but to conduct a free and fair election for the betterment of the country.
He made the remarks during a brief speech to worshippers before Friday prayers at the Jessore Collectorate Mosque.
The CEC said, “At this final stage of my life, I have been entrusted with a significant state responsibility. Through a credible election, I want to help restore public trust. However, I cannot achieve this alone—I seek the wholehearted support and prayers of the people.”
Nasir Uddin added, “To build a brighter future for the nation, we must strengthen democratic practices on a solid foundation. For that, free, fair, and participatory elections are essential. The Election Commission is working toward that goal.”
On his way to Khulna, he stopped briefly in Jessore and performed Friday prayers at the mosque. Jessore Deputy Commissioner Azaharul Islam also joined the prayer.
During the service, a special prayer and supplication were offered for the souls of those who died in the recent plane crash involving students from Milestone College in Dhaka.
