The National Board of Revenue (NBR) and all officials and employees under the Internal Resources Division (IRD) have been instructed to refrain from travelling abroad until the upcoming national election excepting unavoidable reasons.
The directive follows a circular issued by the Chief Adviser’s Office after which the IRD forwarded the instructions to NBR.
The letter has been published on the NBR’s official website for strict compliance.
According to the notice, no officer or employee of NBR or the IRD may undertake foreign trips before the national election unless absolutely indispensable.

Earlier on Wednesday (26 November), the central bank instructed managing directors, chief executive officers and all other staff of all banks and financial institutions to avoid overseas trips excepting unavoidable reasons.
The directive, issued under the Bank Company Act, 1991, will remain effective until the national election concludes in February next year.
