Begum Khaleda Zia is the most popular person in the mainstream politics of Bangladesh. Her life is full of struggle. She is a strong anti-hegemonic and anti-expansionist. She is a staunch believer in Bangladeshi nationalism and Islamic values. She is the biggest source of hope for the hardworking people of this country - farmers, workers, and the working masses. She is soft-spoken but tough-minded when needed.
It was Begum Zia's misfortune that her main rival was a vengeful politician like Sheikh Hasina. There is no politician like Begum Khaleda Zia in Bangladesh.
Today she is sick. The people of the country are very worried about the news of her illness. May Allah Almighty help her. After recovering, Begum Zia will return to the political arena; this is what the entire people of Bangladesh are expecting.
Khaleda Zia, who lost her husband untimely and has lived a lonely life with two children, has been involved in politics, campaigned against dictatorship, won elections twice and run the country as Prime Minister. There were many good aspects during her rule, as well as many shortcomings. She herself was not above mistakes. But she had a rare talent. She loved and cared for the people of the country. Very few politicians in Bangladesh have these qualities.
In the recent past, despite having the opportunity, Begum Khaleda Zia refused to go abroad, handing over the people of the country to Sheikh Hasina. She clearly knew that if she stayed in the country, she would have to go to jail in a false case. She also knew that this was not a prison but a grave. Once you enter here, there is a high possibility that you will not be able to get out.
When Begum Khaleda Zia was blocked by a sand truck in front of her residence during the movement to topple the government while she was in the opposition, she said, shaking with anger, "If we want, we can bring down this government with a tough program. But many people will die in it. Even if there is no government, we have compassion for all the citizens of the state. Therefore, in the larger interest of the country and the people I have to suspended this movement to topple the government."
As this movement fizzled out, two false cases filed against Begum Zia during the caretaker government formed by One-Eleven which suddenly gained momentum. At that time, everyone in the country knew that Khaleda Zia would not get real justice in the courts. Everyone understood that she would be sent to jail. Maybe even killed.
Ignoring hundreds of obstacles and dangers, he returned home from London on that day after performing Umrah. Facing a biased judicial process, he went to jail, choosing certain death.

Despite knowing everything, Khaleda Zia entered the grave. She was not given good food there, and when she asked for medical treatment, Hasina said, "You have lived for many years, how much longer?" In short, Khaleda Zia was in Hasina's prison.
Despite the 100 percent possibility of poisoning her food, Khaleda ate it. She didn't eat it for herself, she ate it for the people of the country.
The three-time Prime Minister knew that he could not be with Sheikh Hasina. Yet, Begum Zia shared the hardships with the people of the country instead of going abroad.
Basically, if Khaleda Zia had not been in jail for 6 years, would she have ended up like this? Her terrible illness is a sacrifice for the countrymen.

August 5 did not happen in a day. August 5 happened after 17 years of small atrocities. Behind this August 5 was the Shapla Chattar massacre, the murder of Jamaat-BNP leaders in the name of crimes against humanity, the kidnapping of Ilyas Ali, the martyrdom of Abrar Fahad, the quota movement, there were countless such incidents. Another one was Khaleda Zia. This lady's silent choice of prison life was one of the catalysts of August 5.
Khaleda Zia is admitted to the Evercare hospital today. Hospital authority said that her illness is a bit serious. She chose this illness. For Bangladesh, for the people of Bangladesh. Please pray for her. At least this is what she deserves from the people of Bangladesh.
