Foreign Ministers from Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Egypt are meeting today, Sunday (March 29), in Islamabad, Pakistan, for an emergency summit aimed at de-escalating the conflict between Iran, Israel, and the U.S.
This high-level diplomatic initiative comes as the U.S. deploys 3,500 Marines for a potential ground raid and follows a strategic phone call between Pakistani PM Shehbaz Sharif and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.
The crisis has intensified since the conflict began on February 28, with the closure of the Strait of Hormuz and the formal entry of Houthi rebels into the war, threatening to block the Bab al-Mandab Strait—a route responsible for 12% of global oil trade.
The international community is now closely watching the Islamabad talks for a potential ceasefire roadmap to prevent a total collapse of the global energy market.
