A Bangladeshi expatriate was killed on Wednesday morning (April 1) in the Al Rifa area of Fujairah, UAE, after being struck by falling shrapnel from an intercepted drone.

According to the state news agency WAM, the UAE's air defense successfully destroyed the incoming drone mid-air, but its debris fell onto a farm, resulting in the tragic death.

This incident is part of a series of escalations in the month-long conflict between Iran and the U.S.-led coalition, which has so far claimed the lives of at least eight civilians from countries including Bangladesh, India, and Pakistan within the UAE alone.

Local authorities in Fujairah have urged residents to remain vigilant, while the Bangladeshi embassy is coordinating efforts to repatriate the deceased's remains as regional security for migrant workers remains a growing concern.
