Education Minister Anm Ehsanul Haq Milan announced on Sunday, April 5, 2026, that no final decision has yet been reached regarding the transition to online classes in educational institutions amid the global fuel crisis triggered by the Middle East conflict.

Speaking at the Secretariat, the Minister noted that while a proposal to hold classes online one day a week is under consideration to reduce energy consumption, a definitive roadmap will only be established following meetings with stakeholders and a scheduled Cabinet session this coming Thursday.

Although educational institutions recently reopened on March 29 after a 40-day Ramadan and Eid break, the government is carefully weighing the balance between academic continuity and resource conservation, with Cabinet Secretary Nasimul Gani previously indicating that specific directives would be issued by the Ministry of Education as the situation evolves throughout the week.
