On Saturday, April 11, 2026, BNP Senior Joint Secretary General and Prime Minister’s Advisor Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed stated that the party will prioritize activism, parliamentary competence, and social reputation when selecting candidates for reserved women's seats.
Speaking at the party's Nayapaltan office, he noted that over 500 nomination forms were sold within the first two days of the process, which concludes on Sunday, April 12.
Rizvi emphasized that women who endured persecution and stood firm during the 16-year democratic struggle would be duly evaluated by the party's nomination board.
He reiterated BNP's commitment to upholding democratic norms and ensuring that all future local government representatives are elected through direct public mandate to ensure accountability.
