The government has suspended Gazipur Metropolitan Police (GMP) Commissioner Nazmul Karim Khan, two months after he was withdrawn from his post.
A notification was issued by the home ministry in this regard on Monday.
According to the notification, Nazmul Karim Khan has been suspended from service in the public interest under the provision of the Government Servants (Discipline and Appeal) Rules.
During his suspension, he will remain attached to the ministry and receive subsistence allowance as per government regulations, it said.
In August this year, a report was published in a national daily alleging that the GMP commissioner used to block roads during his commute to and from the office, which sparked widespread criticism.
A show cause notice was served in connection with the matter.
On 1 September, Nazmul was withdrawn from his post.
