4 killed as moving bus catches fire in Cumilla

Four people were killed when a running passenger bus caught fire after the driver lost control on the Dhaka–Chattogram highway.

Police said, they have recovered the burnt bodies of four people after a road accident involving a bus, an autorickshaw, and a motorcycle in Cumilla’s Daudkandi Upazila.

The incident occurred at around 12:45 pm on Friday (9 January) in the Baniapara area of Daudkandi upazila in Cumilla district. At least 10 to 12 others were injured in the accident. 

Among the deceased were two children, one woman and one man. The identities of the victims could not be confirmed immediately.

The incident was confirmed by Daudkandi Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Iqbal Bahar.

According to Law enforcers, a fire sparked after the accident and the cause may have been the fuel tank on the motorcycle. The fire spread and engulfed the bus. The Fire Service and Civil Defence came and put out the blaze..
