Former advisor Mahfuz Alam suggested on Saturday, April 18, 2026, that certain initiatives started by the previous Awami League government should be continued, particularly those concerning heritage preservation.
In a Facebook post, he emphasized the need for a thorough archaeological survey of the Dhaka Central Jail area before proceeding with any park or museum projects.
Alam noted that such an investigation is crucial to validating Dhaka’s 400-year-old history. He argued that while modern urbanization and recreational spaces are necessary, preserving the city's historical identity is equally vital for future generations.
