As the capital city of Dhaka continues to see a rise in the number of both deaths and infections from coronavirus, lockdown measures have strictly been enforced in many areas to curb the virus.

Alongside law enforcers, locals also put up barricades at many lanes of the city so that no outsider can enter their areas.

However, many were still seen violating the lockdown in a number of areas.

FT TEAM photographers captured photos from Mirpur, Dhanmondi, Old Dhaka, Basabo and Goran areas on Sunday.

A barricade was erected on the lane with bamboos to prevent the entry of people.

A placard reading ‘lockdown’ was hanged at the entrance. Authorities concerned placed the placard to prevent the entry to and exit from lanes or residences following detection of Covid-19 patients.

A man is riding a bicycle on a deserted road at Dhanmondi.

Defying the social-distancing rules, people are hovering around in Basabo area amid high risk of coronavirus transmission.

A house was put under lockdown in South Goran after a woman was found infected with coronavirus at the building.

Janakalyan Samity of South Goran sprays disinfectant and arranges hand-washing programme in an effort to curb coronavirus.
