Heated exchange between vehicle drivers, filling station staffs over fuel price hike

Drivers of various motorised vehicles crowded around the filling stations in capital after hike in price of fuel Friday night.

A heated exchange took place between the drivers and staffs of the filling stations also following the newly hiked charge.

Visiting Pinnacle Filling Station in Kuril area of the capital, this correspondent  witnessed the crowd and chaos between the drivers and station employees over further hike in fuel price.

The government has increased price of diesel by Tk 34, petrol Tk 44 and octane Tk 46.

As per revised rate, kerosene and diesel will be sold at Tk 114 per litre, petrol at Tk 130 and octane at Tk 135.

The new price will come into effect after 12am, said a press statement of Ministry of Power, Energy & Mineral Resources on Friday.

The station authorities started to charge extra price at 11:40 pm inviting protest by the drivers.
