FT ONLINE

The Anti-Corruption Commission has interrogated Deputy Inspector General Mizanur Rahman over allegations of accumulating wealth illegally.

Mizanur Rahman came under scrutiny after he was accused of abducting a woman and later marrying her by force.

Mizanur Rahman arrived at the ACC around 9am on Thursday responding to the commission’s notice, ACC's spokesman Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya told Reporters.

ACC Deputy Director Farid Ahmed Patowary has begun quizzing him.

On Jan 9, he was withdrawn from his position due to the allegations of abducting a woman at gunpoint and forcing her to marry him.

The woman accused the police officer of marrying her against her will.

According to the anti-graft body, DIG Rahman accumulated billions in cash, apartments, cars and property, and fixed deposit accounts in multiple banks. He is also accused of being involved in money laundering.

An ACC probe body also found “strong evidence” against Rahman of misconduct on duty.
