This year’s Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) tests are all set to begin with a special focus to curb the spate of question leak that has tainted the education sector.

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid said a total of 13,11,457 candidates will be appearing at HSC and equivalent tests from 8,943 educational institutions all over the country.

The number of HSC candidates stand at 10,92,604 with 5,52,612 male students and 5,39,995 female students. There will be 2,541 examination centres set up across Bangladesh.

This year expects to see 1,27,771 more students appearing for HSC and equivalent tests.

In a briefing at the ministry, Education Minister Nahid urged all students to enter the examination centres 30 minutes ahead of the scheduled start time.

Only the in-charge officer at respective centres will be allowed to enter the examination centres with mobile phones, where they will be given the set choice instruction via a text message.

The HSC and equivalent tests will begin countrywide from April 2.
