'90-coachs to be repaired at Syedpur workshop before Eid'

Railway Minister Mujibul Haque on Saturday said the government would repair 90 passenger coaches at Syedpur railway workshop in Nilphamari to ensure passenger services before the Eid ul-Fitr.

"Another inter-city express train with 14 repaired coaches will start soon on Lalmonirhat-Dhaka route," he said this, while addressing a press conference at the workshop in Nilphamari.

He said the government would launched another intra-city train 'Nilsagar Express' on Chilahati-Dhaka route with resolving locomotives and coaches shortage.

Besides, the government would modernize and set up Syedpur Railway Workshop for manufacturing new coaches with Indian Line of Credit, adding, in this sector the budget was only Taka 500 crore, but now it is increase to Taka 16,132 crore ."

During the minister's visit of the workshop, Director General of Bangladesh Railway M Amjad Hossain, additional director general M Shamsuzzoha, general manager of west zone M Ramjan Ali and others were present.

Earlier, the minister inaugurated air break section setting up at carriage shop by cutting ribbon.
