Exim Bank incurs Tk566cr loss in Q3 as deposits slump
The Exim Bank is facing a loss of Tk566 crore in the third quarter of 2024 (July-September) due to a decrease in its deposits.
According to information published on the website of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), the consolidated loss per share of EXIM Bank was Tk3.91, which was Tk0.37 in the same period of last year.
In such a situation, the share price of Exim Bank fell by 9.64% to Tk7.50 in the capital market on Monday (October 28).
The bank is blaming increased investment conditions for the fall in income.
Exim Bank's problem has been compounded by dwindling cash. The bank registered a negative net operating cash flow per share (NOCFPS) of Tk16.62 from last January to September.
Established in 1999, Exim Bank introduced Shariah-based banking in 2004. The bank focuses on financing the corporate, small and cottage industries and agriculture sectors.
