REHAB for monitoring cell to fix prices of construction materials

The Real Estate and Housing Association of Bangladesh (REHAB) has underscored the need for the formation of a monitoring cell to fix and stabilise the prices of construction materials in the local market.

REHAB President Md Wahiduzzaman placed the demand while he along with a delegation was paying a courtesy call on State Minister for Commerce Ahsanul Islam Titu at his ministry office in Dhaka on Tuesday.

A monitoring cell involving the ministry, REHAB, the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) and concerned stakeholders can be formed against the backdrop of the price hike of construction materials.

Besides, the state minister assured them of considering their demand.

The Real Estate and Housing sector has been experiencing a setback for the last few months as the prices of construction materials went up abnormally.

The flat prices in Dhaka have already soared beyond the reach of common people and purchasing a flat for the middle class has become a nightmare due to the escalating prices of construction materials.

As a result, the housing sector is grappling with significant challenges, according to the insiders of the real estate and housing sector.
