Govt to procure two cargos LNG, 3.30cr liters edible oil, 50,000 MTs rice
The government on Thursday approved separate proposals for procuring some 2 cargos of LNG, 3.30cr liters of edible oil, 50,000 MTs of rice, and 70,000 metric tons of fertilizer to meet the growing demand of the country.
The approvals came from the 15th meeting of the Advisers Council Committee on Government Purchase in this year held on Thursday at the Cabinet Division Conference Room at Bangladesh Secretariat.
Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed presided over the meeting, reports BSS.
Following two separate proposals from the Energy and Mineral Resources Division, Petrobangla would procure one cargo LNG from the spot market through international quotation method from M/S Total Energies Gas and Power Limited, UK with around Tk 5.68 billion while the Petrobangla would import another cargo LNG from the spot market through international quotation method from M/S Gunvor Singapore Pte Limited, Singapore with around Tk 5.69 billion.
In response to two separate proposals from the Ministry of Commerce, the state-run Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) would procure 1.10 crore liters of refined rice bran oil through local OTM method from Tamim Agro Industries Limited, Dhaka and Majumder Bran Oil Mills Limited, Jessore with around Tk 1.77 billion where per liter oil would cost Tk 161.
Besides, the TCB would procure 2.20 crore liters of soybean oil through local OTM method from Sonargaon Seeds Crushing Mills Limited, Dhaka with around Tk 3.65 billion with per liter oil costing Tk 165.85.
In response to another proposal from the Ministry of Food, the government would procure 50,000 metric tons of non-basmati rice through international OTM method from M/S Pattabhi Agro Foods Private Limited, India with around Tk 2.41 billion where per ton rice would cost $394.77.
Following two separate proposals from the Ministry of Agriculture, the Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC) would procure 40,000 metric tons of DAP fertilizer from MA’ADEN, Saudi Arabia with around Tk 3.04 billion with per ton fertilizer costing $622.50.
Besides, BADC would procure another consignment of 30,000 metric tons of TSP fertilizer from OCP, NUTRICROPS, Morocco under the 5th lot under state-level agreement with around Tk 1.63 billion with per ton fertilizer costing $445.
