Bashundhara cement proud of being used in Metro Rail project


Bashundhara cement has been used in the Metrorail Project as lone supplier of the major element to adhere other materials to bind them together of viaduct and piers of the mega infrastructure.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is scheduled to inaugurate the mega project covering 11.73 kilometer from Uttara to Agargaon in the capital today.

The mega project has used 348,000 tonnes of cement so far from flagship brands of Bashundhara Group.

After completing quality assurance of the product, Thailand-based construction firm Italian-Thai Development Public Company Limited (ITD) first signed a deal with Bashundhara Cement on October 7, 2017 for supplying the material.

Bashundhara Group Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir and ITD Project Director Wichien Roongrujirat signed the deal on behalf of their respective sides.

Bashundhara Cement supplied all of 191,392 tonnes of cement used in metro rail project. The contraction agency signed second contract in January of 2018 inspired by the quality and standard of Bashundhara Cement.

In second phase, Bashundhara Cement supplied 51,988 tonnes of cement to Diabari Depot of ITD and Sino-Hydro Corporation joint venture.

Japanese Sumitomo Mitsui Construction Company Limited and Italian-Thai Development Public Company Limited Joint Venture (SMCC-ITD JV) signed the agreement with Bashundhara Cement in November 20, 2018.

Bashundhara Group Vice-Chairman Safwan Sobhan and SMCC-ITD JV Senior Vice-President Whichien Roongrujirat signed the deal on behalf of their respective sides.

Bashundhara Cement has supplied 46,506 tonnes so far for the construction of 4.92 kilometer from Karwran Bazar to Motijheel.

Bashundhara Industrial Limited signed two joint-venture agreements with Tekken-Abdul Monem Limited Abenikko and Tekken-Abdul Monem Limited-YBC on January 13, 2019 for the supply of cement required for the construction of metro rail from Agargaon to Kawran Bazar.

Bashundhara Cement supplied 58,163 tonnes cement for construction of 3.19km metro rail line.

Bashundhara Cement head of corporate sales Salahuddin Biswas said that the process of supplying cement to the Metrorail was not that easy as various levels of standards were subject to testing.

“And there was zero compromise on quality testing by all involved. Only Bashundhara Cement passes the zero compromise quality tests. Since then only we are supplying cement to Metrorail,” he said.

Bashundhara Cement head of technical support Shafiqul Islam said Bashundhara survives the standard tests among many companies wanted to supply cement to the metro rail.

“Most important aspect of Bashundhara cement is that it never compromises on quality in production. We can always produce the same standard quality cement,” he said.

Bashundhara cement has been used at a significant rate in other mega projects of the country. These are Padma bridge rail link project, Padma multipurpose bridge project, Padma bridge river governance, first Dhaka elevated expressway, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib railway bridge, development of Ashuganj river port - Sarail - Darkhar - Akhaura land port road as 4-lane national highway project, Payra pridge, SS Power-1 of Banskhali, China construction seventh engineering division corporation, Coastal embankment development project-II, Eighth Bangladesh-China friendship bridge, greater Dhaka sustainable urban transport project, Meghnaghat power plant, Ashuganj 400 MW power plant, Amigo Bangladesh project, Khulna surface water treatment plant and Kewasar reservoir, seventh Bangladesh-China friendship bridge, Rampal power plant, Rooppur nuclear power plant, Matarbari coal-based power project, Kalna Bridge, second Rupsha railway bridge etc.
