Govt appoints 5,054 nurses to join fight against COVID-19


The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare today appointed 5,054 nurses in several hospitals, dedicated for coronavirus treatment, in the country. 

All of them have been temporarily appointed in the senior staff nurse rank and they have to join their respective hospitals within May 13, a press release from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare says. 

The press release also says that detailed information regarding the appointment is available on the ministry's website. 

Earlier on April 25, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, in a letter to the Ministry of Public Administration, asked for 2,000 doctors and 6,000 nurses amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Afterwards, 5,054 nurses were chosen from the list of recommended nurses provided by Bangladesh Public Service Commission to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. 

Another 2,000 doctors will also be appointed within May 12.
