BD reports 41 more deaths, 1,765 new cases


Both the new cases and the fatalities of Covid-19 took an upward trend on Tuesday as 41 more people were killed and 1,765 new cases were registered in the country in the last 24 hours. 

With today's figures, the death toll reached 12,660 and the caseload stood at 8,02,305, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Besides, the positivity rate was recorded at 9.67% and the death rate was 1.58% in the preceding 24 hours.

Also, 18,250 samples were tested in 503 labs across the country. 

Among the latest day's victims, 26 were men, and 15 were women. Of the victims, 38 died in different hospitals across the country while three at home. 

Moreover, 15 of the deceased hailed from the Dhaka division, 11 from Chattogram, six from Rajshahi, four from Khulna, three from Sylhet, and two from Barishal division.

Also, 1,779 patients were declared free of Covid-19 during the last 24 hours, with a 92.50% recovery rate.

The Covid-19 victims' gender breakdown shows that 9,139 of the total deceased across the country were men and 3,521 were women.

The country's maiden cases were reported on 8 March last year and the first death from the virus was reported on 18 March.

Neighbouring India reported 127,510 new coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases in the past 24 hours, as displayed by the Union health ministry dashboard at 8am on Tuesday. The death toll, too, was pushed to 331,895 with 2,795 new fatalities recorded in this duration, it showed.

As of Tuesday, 3,565,891 people globally succumbed to the viral disease and so far 171,491,205 people contracted the virus, according to data provided by Worldometer.
