Guidelines for people with Covid-like symptoms: Dr ABM Abdullah

People are now suffering from fever-cold-cough at different houses. Besides, the dengue menace is on the rise along with the increased Covid-19 infection in the country.  

Emeritus Professor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University and also Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s private physician Dr ABM Abdullah suggested the steps to be taken by the people of the country. 

Dr Abdullah said, “Those who have symptoms like  fever, cold, cough, body ache, loss of taste and smell will of course go for Covid-19 testing.  Rapid Antigen Test is done easily. Isolation is must if result is found positive for Covid-19 to prevent infection among other members of the family.” 

He said "Patients who have problems with kidney, liver and heart will have to be careful if they suffer from fever. Nowadays, many people are testing positive for dengue and Covid-19. As a result, advice of doctors is must.”

What is to be done if it is not possible to do Covid-19 test ?

Dr Abdullah advised people to take paracetamol tablet and cough medicine in case of cough.

Also he spoke of the need for gurgling with hot water, and drinking hot water.

The physician also suggested not to take any antibiotic medicine without doctor’s advice. All normal food can be consumed. Fruits, vegetables, protein-type food should be included in the food menu. Most of the time hospitalistion is not needed,  but doctor’s advice should be followed obviously for avoiding risks.
