Coronavirus: 20 villages in Lalmonirhat decide on voluntary lockdown


20 villages under five upazilas of Lalmonirhat opted for self-lockdown today to contain the spread of the coronavirus.

No one can leave or enter the villages during this self-lockdown, our Lalmonirhat correspondent reports quoting the villagers.

The villagers also made a voluntary committee in each village to monitor the situation during the lockdown period.

The villagers locked-down their villages by placing bamboo barricades at all the entry points.

Pradip Kumar Roy, a resident of Paschim Barua village said they opted for self-lockdown after talking with all the villagers and taking the greater interests of their people into consideration.

The villages which went for self-lockdown are -- Mandirapara, Madanerachak, Shibram, Aambari, Folimari, Shothibari, Chapartal, Chaklarhat, Parshurampara, Tangvanga, Naodabash, Barokhata, Shafirhat, Kottali, Shirampur, Jhora and Sarkarerhat.
