ACC seeks record of expenses from Kuwait-BD Hospital

Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Sunday again issued a letter to Kuwait-Bangladesh Friendship Government Hospital seeking its detailed record of expenses, including bills and vouchers, to investigate graft allegations in accommodation and meal bills.

The hospital was also asked to submit information about the accommodation of the doctors and health workers during the COVID-19 crisis, the official said.

ACC spokesman Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya said that ACC Director Mir Md Joynul Abedin sought the documents recording purchases of Covid-19 related equipment, and bills and vouchers from the hotel where staff have been accommodated, issuing a letter.

The commission also sought the specified documents by September 10.

ACC director Mir Joynul Abedin Shibli asked both the authorities to submit all necessary documents, including bills and payment details, as there was an allegation that huge irregularities took place in the food supplying process, said an ACC official.

Earlier on August 9, ACC summoned some documents of the hospital to investigate another graft allegation.

On August 3, the commission asked the managing director of Hotel Super Star Ltd and the director of Mugda 500-bed General Hospital to submit various information and records, including the accommodation and meals of doctors, nurses and other staff engaged in providing medical services to COVID-19 patients.
