BGB arrests three drug dealers from Cox’s Bazar


Officials from Border Guard Bangladesh arrest Syed Alam on Sunday night who preserved 1,28,800 yaba pieces beneath his kitchen

Officials from Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) 34 Battalion have arrested three suspected yaba dealers through separate drives conducted in different areas of Cox’s Bazar.

In the drives --which took place from Sunday to Monday-- BGB seized at least 2,38,000 pieces of yaba, states a press release by the elite force on Monday morning.

In Ukhiya’s Palangkhali union, BGB officials from Balukhali BOP camp made a drive to one Syed Alam’s house on a tip-off and seized 1,28,800 Burmese yaba pills, confirmed Lt Col Ali Haider Azad, commander of BGB-34 camp.

The owner of the house Syed Alam, 35, was arrested on Sunday night for hiding the pills in his kitchen, said the officer.

Meanwhile, in another drive in Ratnapalong union of the upazila, a patrol team of Rejupara BOP challenged a Court Bazar bound CNG-run-three wheeler and recovered 1,00,000 pieces of yaba from their possession, confirmed the officer.

BGB arrested a passenger of the vehicle, Jamal Hossain, 21, who is a suspected drug dealer, said Lt Col Ali Haider Azad.

In a separate drive in Ramu’s Khuniapalong union, the BGB officials arrested another drug dealer, Nur, 28, with 10,000 yaba pills from Rejukhal check post when he was transporting the contraband drugs via a three-wheeler.
