ACC, home ministry to probe Evaly's financial scam

The commerce ministry has asked the Anti-Corruption Commission and the home ministry to investigate the anomalies found in Evaly’s financial statement.

As per the financial statement submitted to the commerce ministry and Bangladesh Bank, there is a discrepancy between the current assets and liabilities of the e-commerce platform, said Md Hafizur Rahman, additional secretary of commerce ministry and the head of digital commerce cell under the ministry.

"Evaly probably has siphoned off the money and we have asked the ACC and the home ministry to investigate the matter," he said.

If Evaly is found to have breached the law, legal action would be taken against the company in line with the existing laws, Hafizur added.
