16 current, ex-Biman officials sued for misappropriating Tk 118.4cr


The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Tuesday arrested two former officials of Biman Bangladesh Airlines from the city’s Segunbagicha area over embezzlement of Tk 118.4 crore.

The arrestees were identified as Mohammad Ali Ahsan, former general manager of cargo section of the national flag carrier, and Iftekhar Hossain Chowdhury, its former manager (export), said ACC Public Relations Officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya.

The arrest came hours after ACC Deputy Director Nasir Uddin filed a case against 16 current and former officials of Biman Bangladesh Airlines for the embezzlement.

According to the case statement, the accused in collusion with each other misappropriated Tk 118.4 crore of the government misusing their power while working at Biman’s cargo section.

The case was filed with ACC Coordination Office-1, Dhaka.

The other accused are Arif Ullah, acting general manager; Shahidul Islam, former assistant manager; Aminul Haque Bhuiyan, former assistant manager; Lutfe Jamal,  former assistant manager; Mosharraf Hossain Talukdar, former assistant manager; Rajib Hasan, former assistant manager; Nasir Uddin Talukdar, former assistant manager; Anup Kumar Barua, former assistant manager; KN Alam, former assistant manager; Fazlul Haque, assistant manager; Syed Ahmed Patwari, former assistant manager; Monir Ahmed Majumdar, former assistant manager; AKM Manjurul Haque, former manager; and Mohammad Shahjahan, former assistant manager.
