Dhaka, Seoul to maintain cooperative ties: Korea

Deputy Minister for Planning and Coordination, South Korea’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs Suh Jeong-in has said Bangladesh and South Korea have a cooperative relationship.

He underlined the similarity between Bangladesh and South Korea in terms of history, values, linguistic heritage etc.

The Deputy Minister, while addressing a reception in Seoul marking the 48th Independence and National Day 2018 of Bangladesh, particularly mentioned about the immense contribution made by expatriate Bangladeshis in Korean economy.

Ambassadors and diplomats from different embassies, high ranking government officials, representatives of different international organizations as well as a large number of Korean business personalities and Korean citizens attended the event, said a press release on Saturday.

Bangladesh Ambassador to South Korea Abida Islam highlighted Bangladesh's success in socio-economic development, role in peace keeping and women empowerment including our achievements in fish, food, pharmaceuticals production and RMG sectors.

Referring to the attainment of required qualification for LDC graduation, she said Bangladesh is on course of becoming a developed country by 2041.

Emphasizing on the excellent bilateral relationship between Bangladesh and Korea, she invited the Korean investors to invest in special economic zones and high-tech parks in Bangladesh.

Another programme was organized at the Embassy on Saturday participated by Bangladeshi students, EPS (Employment Permit System) workers, business of Bangladesh community.

After the singing of national anthem, a documentary on the overall development activities of Bangladesh was shown.
