Closure of educational institutions extended until May 29


The government has extended the ongoing shutdown of secondary and higher secondary educational Institutions until May 29.

The education ministry issued a notice in this regard on Saturday night, saying the decision was taken considering the high risk of mass spreading of coronavirus.

As per the previous decision of the government, all schools and colleges were scheduled to reopen on May 23 and the universities on the next day.

Earlier on the day, Deputy Minister for Education Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury told media that that would not be possible to reopen educational institutions by May 23 and May 24 as the government was considering to extend the restrictions of ongoing lockdown."

All educational institutes remained closed for past 14 months due to the Covid-19 pandemic which is causing severe harm to the students.

Earlier on March 25, Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni announced that all schools and colleges across the country will reopen after Eid.
