SSC exams likely in August

The Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and its equivalent examinations are likely to begin in August as country’s flood situation has not become normal yet.

The decision was taken at an inter-education board meeting on July 3 (Sunday).

Inter-education board chairman Prof Tapan Kumar Sarkar said the SSC exams will begin in August if the flood situation of the country becomes normal.

“The schedule of the exams are not finalised yet. We will discuss the matter after the Eid. Then it would be possible to make the schedule public,” he said.

The SSC and equivalent examinations, scheduled to begin on June 19, were postponed due to worsening flood situation in Sylhet and Sunamganj districts.

Generally, SSC exams commence in the first week of February but the Covid-19 pandemic delayed the exams by at least four months.

It is learnt that nearly 19 lakh students across the country filled in forms to appear in this year's SSC and equivalent examinations.
