Not just GPA-5, students must be developed to a world-class level: Education Minister

Education Minister Dr. A N M Ehsanul Haque Milton emphasized moving beyond traditional GPA-centric education toward building world-class, skilled citizens.

Speaking at the China-Bangladesh Education Cooperation Forum-2026 on Saturday, May 9, 2026, he highlighted the government's mandatory "Third Language" policy, noting that learning Chinese would open vast international job markets for students.

He called for better coordination between industries and universities and stated that the current administration under Tarek Rahman is committed to reforming curricula and academic calendars.

The Minister also encouraged students to explore affordable high-quality education in China, where 16,000 Bangladeshis are already studying, and announced upcoming technical training programs for teachers in collaboration with Chinese institutions.
