Indo-Bangla customs meeting to begin Sunday


A two-day meeting of the customs officials of Bangladesh and India would begin on Sunday, aiming to ease bilateral trade and stop smuggling.

National Board of Revenue (NBR) Chairman M Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan is scheduled to inaugurate the meeting at Hotel InterContinental in Dhaka, reports BSS.

Director General of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) Dr Md Shahidul Islam addressed a press conference on Thursday at his office to inform about the meeting.

 

Principle Director General of the Indian Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) Debi Prasad Dash would lead the eight-member Indian delegation while the 13-member Bangladesh team will be headed by CIID Director General, he added.

In the meeting, different issues would be tabled to boost up bilateral trade, said Islam.

CIID additional director generals Abdul Hakim and Shamima Akhter were present.
