Former Mohila Sramik League leader held in Khulna

Law enforcers detained a former Mohila Sramik League leader of Khulna metropolitan unit for her alleged connection with gold theft syndicate, media reports.

The detained leader was identified as Sadia Aktar Mukta, 32, former general secretary of Khulna metropolitan Mohila Sramik League unit. She is the wife of Shukur Ali, owner of Guha Restaurent in Sonadanga of the city.

Md. Ehsan Shah, Deputy Commissioner of Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) South zone, confirmed the arrest of Mukta at around 9:30 pm on Tuesday.

She was accused of involving in a gold theft syndicate. But law enforcement agencies claimed that Sadia Aktar Mukta is the kingpin of that syndicate.

However, it was informed that Mukta was arrested on Monday, but police did not disclose this detention as police was carrying out drives against that thief syndicate.

Mukta’s cohort Faruk and Abdul Alim were arrested during the drive and attempts to arrest other allies in the gang were underway.

However, acting on a tip off, police recovered about 12 bhori of gold and Taka two lakh and eighty two thousand from Mukta’s residence.

Meanwhile, Ranjit Kumar Ghosh, general secretary of Khulna metropolitan Jatiya Sramik League unit said that Mukta was former general secretary of Khulna metropolitan Mohila Sramik League unit. But now she is not involved in politics and also she did not had any portfolio.
