Covid-19 deaths reach 3,000-markBD reports 35 deaths, 2,960 new cases


The fatalities from Covid-19 in Bangladesh climbed to 3,000 after 35 new deaths were registered in the last 24 hours to 8:00am on Tuesday.

Among the deceased, 26 were male and the rest were female, the health directorate said.

Moreover, 12 of them are hailed from Dhaka, five from Chattogram, four each from Khulna and Sylhet, three each from Rajshahi and Barishal, and two each from Rangpur and Mymensingh division.

Twenty-six of them have died in different hospitals, eight at their respective homes and one was diagnosed with the infection after death.

Meanwhile, a total of 2,960 people were infected with Covid-19 during the period, taking the number of confirmed coronavirus patients in the country to 229,185.

Nasima Sultana, additional director general (admin) at the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), disclosed the information while briefing the media live on the daily Covid-19 bulletin.

The fresh coronavirus infections were found after testing a total of 12,714 samples in 81 labs across the country, she said.

Besides, the recovery count also jumped to 127,414 after 1,731 patients were recovered during the period under review.

Globally, 16,659,409 people have been infected by the novel coronavirus and 656,853 people died as of Tuesday noon, according to the worldometer.

Of them, 5,749,345 are currently being treated with 66,580 remain in serious or critical condition.

So far, 10,253,211 people have recovered.
