Education dept issues 5 directives to prevent Covid spread


Authorities have asked all schools and colleges of the country to follow five directives for preventing the spread of Covid-19 virus.

Prof Dr Muhammad Azad Khan, director general of Department of Secondary and Higher Education, has published a facebook post detailing the five directives.

Dr Muhammad Azad has also called on school authorities, students, and their guardians to follow the guidelines issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The five directives include: 1) regularly washing hands with soap for at least 20 seconds, 2) avoiding touching the eyes, mouth and nose with unwashed hands, 3) avoiding public gatherings and wearing facemasks outdoors, 4) maintaining at least three-feet distance with suspected Covid patients, and 5) covering the mouth and nose with tissue or elbows when sneezing or coughing.

The DGHS guidelines also call on authorities at all entry points of the country to scan the temperature of all incoming people using thermal scanners and digital thermometers. Authorities will also have to stockpile adequate amount of gloves, masks and personal protective equipment (PPE) for health workers.

Those diagnosed with Covid symptoms have been asked to stay at home, and serious patients have been asked to seek medical intervention at nearby hospitals. If needed in case of emergencies, the affected people have been asked to contact using the hotline: 01401196293.
