Trying hard and soul to protect people: PM
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said that her government is trying its best to save the lives of the people from Covid-19 and revive the economy pointing out the measures taken by the government to protect the people of the country.
The PM made the remark in a video conference from her official residence Ganabhaban today while receiving donations for the PM's Relief and Welfare Fund to combat the pandemic.
PM's Principal Secretary Dr Ahmad Kaikaus received the donation cheques on behalf of the premier at the Prime Minister's Office.
"We are trying to protect the people of the country. We are working to protect their health, to mobilise economic activities, to provide them social security," the premier said.
Regarding resuming operations in some sectors, the prime minister said, "Since the economy is in a state of stagnation, we have resumed some economic activities because we have to save the people."
Highlighting the steps taken to keep the economy afloat, the prime minister said, "We are giving special incentives worth 3.7 percent of GDP to ensure that everyone can carry out their activities."
Regarding medical services, Sheikh Hasina said, " Free treatment is being given despite the fact that coronavirus is quite expensive to test or treat."
The prime minister prayed for the souls of those who had died from the virus and conveyed her condolences to their bereaved families.
